KRGV Channel 5 News (ABC) located in the warm and beautiful Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. (Harlingen - Weslaco - Brownsville - McAllen, Texas, DMA #83) is looking for a dynamic and energetic weekday Sports Anchor/MMJ who will also serve as Sports Director to lead our dynamic and top rated sports efforts across our television and digital platforms.
You will work closely with the News Director to guide and plan for future special sports projects including but not limited to high school football coverage on both our television news properties.
We are looking for a sports anchor that loves local sports and stays on top of state and national sports, too, but does not regurgitate highlights. Candidate must be able to compliment a veteran news team, be able to shoot, write, edit, write for web and keep scores updated, report and go live, as needed. You will be producing your own sportscast and will need to help with shooting and editing.
Candidate should have a minimum of two years as a TV Sports Anchor/Reporter. Your reel should demonstrate ability to: anchor, report, write, shoot, edit, produce, and report live. We are looking for a sports anchor who is a leader, who can work independently, and coach his/her sports crew.
A college degree in broadcast journalism or related field is preferred; bilingual in Spanish a plus. Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
