About WTVY:

WTVY, Dothan's #1 rated news station has an immediate opening for a Morning Anchor. We need a Monday - Friday anchor to be a leader in the newsroom and community. WTVY covers counties in three states Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. Our primary DMA is in Southeast Alabama. WTVY (CBS) is the established market leader in Dothan. We have a live truck and multiple backpack live units allowing us to produce more than 29 hours of live news per week.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be an excellent on-camera communicator with top notch interviewing, live and taped reporting skills. We prefer an anchor who can connect with the audience on all platforms: TV, online, mobile and social media. Absolutely, must be a true team player and newsroom leader, willing to do whatever it takes to get the latest and best story and impactful information to our community. The ideal candidate will also have strong editorial judgment and be able to work with the morning producer to develop a content-filled and engaging morning newscast. The candidate would be able to generate unique, compelling and innovative story/show ideas and content, developing contacts and relationships is also required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Must be willing to take part in various community events on behalf of the station.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Minimum 1 year news anchor/reporting experienced desired
  • Journalism and /or Mass Communication degree preferred
  • Understand the tenants of professional Journalism
  • Deliver accurate content and reports
  • Excellent, creative presentation and writing skills a must
  • Excellent use of social media for news gatherings/disseminating and community engagement
  • Cultivate sources
  • Must have an understanding of live technology

    Requirements: A degree in journalism or a related field is preferred. We're looking for someone to join the team, hit the ground running and lead by example.
