Position Level: Staff

Summary: The Online Content Supervisor will execute a wide variety of production tasks related to interactive services operated by Cordillera Interactive and KRIS Communications. They will be responsible for the oversight and training of the web producer team; working with corporate and station leadership to ensure goals are met for audience engagement. The ideal candidate will have experience with CMS platforms & Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube), video and photo editing, news writing and basic knowledge of HTML. Ability to multi task, identify priorities to handle fast-paced newsroom environment a must. Ability to read and write in Spanish a plus.

Specific responsibilities: Web production systems, potentially including: advertising systems, content management, interactivity, and audience or business analytics. The content supervisor will use this subject matter expertise to:

  • Develop best practices for staff in coordination with KRIS Communications and Informed Interactive provide training of staff members on website technologies and social media
  • Manage brand & talent social account setup to comply with KRIS Communications standards
  • Set goals for staff in regards to web/social use, weekly benchmarks for engagement
  • Develop process and guidelines for video/photo use on web/social media and special event coverage: elections, Olympics, breaking news protocols
  • Creates original content: stories, slideshows, videos, interactive presentations to complement broadcast product Monitor multiple news sources for compelling content to adapt for online use
  • Meet regularly with web team and station management to review strategy showcase discovery of new technology for broadcast, websites and social media
  • Coordinate with sales and promotions for special events, contests online, monitor Google Analytics and other data sources to track social media and web traffic, demographics
  • Writes original content, adapts broadcast news content for online/social media, Proofreading of online content
  • Posting to social media outlets, responding to viewer comments and inquiries, Video and photo editing, will clip videos from broadcast product for online use
  • Ability to identify social media trends and adapt for brand use, guide staff on best practices for online news writing and social media
  • Attend news staff briefings to understand story priorities, based on brand, identify non-local stories ripe for engagement with our audiences
  • Learn the inner-workings of the existing content management system (CMS) and be able to assist with required local and enterprise tasks including page building, user management, troubleshooting and other various tasks.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of application and administration problems with corporate and site teams.
  • Coordinate local implementations of new interactive tools and methods for content, advertising, social media, syndication and mobile platforms, among others. Serve as first-line trainee in °ßtrain-the-trainer°® role to ensure success with these tools and methods.
  • Work with Cordillera and outside systems engineers to diagnose, troubleshoot and correct outages or other service delivery issues. Conduct appropriate due diligence and quality assurance practices to ensure on-schedule, on-budget deployment of projects.
  • Coordinate delivery, analysis and discussion of audience metrics, advertising metrics and financial reporting to key stakeholders at KRIS Communications from corporate and outside sources.
  • Train and retrain site teams on administrative tool sets as needed. Recommend and specify new administrative tools, or feature/function enhancements to existing tools, for internal or external development.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation on operational tools and methods.
  • Participate as needed with developers and project managers to scope, specify and build administrative tools for new and existing interactive products and upgraded production software.
  • Position Requirements: The Online Content Supervisor should have the following, or comparable, skills, abilities and experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in technology, creative, business or media disciplines.
  • Minimum 2 years operations experience, preferably in an interactive services role.
  • Passion for innovation, superior service and support, for internal stakeholders and external clients, in interactive media.
